The plate for “Surge” is built from recycled cardboard, carved and sealed so the cavities hold ink and print intaglio. Each print is pulled by hand, one at a time, allowing small variations in pressure and ink to remain part of the final image. The chine collé elements are chosen intentionally for each piece, using Kozo papers to establish the underlying color
