A Stanislaus County jury has convicted 26-year-old Flavio Alvarez of Patterson of arson in connection with a March 2025 fire that destroyed an abandoned car wash. Investigators determined the fire was intentionally set, and prosecutors say Alvarez admitted to igniting a mattress inside the building. The District Attorney’s Office stated he was allegedly on probation for failing to register at the time. He now faces a potential sentence of up to 17 years in state prison. A separate court hearing
