Canberra-based wombat rescuer Yolandi Vermaark of Wombat Rescue is on the frontline of fighting mange in wombats. Here, Australian Geographic follows her on one of her typical weekends, which involves looking for joeys in roadkill and treating a small population of wombats with cydectin that helps get rid of mange. Another wombat treated for mange early this morning. We suspect it’s Stu, a wombat treated once last year before he disappeared.
