“Protecting Paradise: The Story of Niue,” a new documentary film from National Geographic Society’s Pristine Seas, follows leaders and community members from the tropical Pacific island nation of Niue as they make bold changes to protect their ocean and their way of life from the damaging effects of global warming. The nation made waves with the creation of the Moana Mahu Marine Protected Area, a 127,000 square kilometer protected area that covers 40% of Niue’s waters. In doing so, Niueans have
