The official trapping season for land traps ended yesterday, however the outrageously long water trapping season for otters, beavers and muskrat lasts until March 31st. Trappers set cages in the water that slowly drown muskrats. Otters and beavers are crushed in body-gripping "kill" traps that frequently don't kill the animal quickly.
