A California-based developer wants to build a new 1-million-square-foot data center near Colorado Street and Harms Road in Merrillville that will pay workers up to an estimated $175,000 a year.

Before Quantica Infrastructure announced their plans for a data center south of Broadview last summer, another developer had its own plans in the works since 2020, according to a lawsuit filed Jan. 9.

The Montreal company proposing to open a $1 billion data center in the town of Madison is requesting up to a combined $25.4 million in local economic incentives toward the project.
