HEAT, HUMIDITY & THUNDERSTORMS We’re on a Weather Alert for peak heat and humidity Thursday and Friday this week. It will be the first time this summer we’ve had dew points reach 70 degrees, which translates to tropical feeling humidity.
Dangerous heat and humidity are bearing down on the Northeast on Thursday, following a surge of more than 350 storms on Wednesday — one of the stormiest days of 2026 so far
An active weather pattern is developing over the Great Lakes and should generally last for at least two weeks. This doesn’t mean rain and thunderstorms every day. The bursts of rain and t-storms will probably come every two to three days.
A mostly cloudy day will take hold for today with scattered shower (and isolated thunderstorm) chances riddled throughout.
The combination of high temperatures and high dew point is associated with a h igher risk of heatstroke, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health. Warning signs for heatstroke include red and dry skin, rapid pulse, headache, dizziness, nausea and confusion.
Wonderful start to the week. Bright sunshine, low humidity and warm weather Monday. Threat Tracker will be green. Top temps in the low 80s for most with a light lakebreeze keeping it cooler by the water.
