HILLSBOROUGH, New Jersey (WABC) -- Two young boys were found dead inside their New Jersey home and now their mother is under arrest. Authorities say the children's father called 911 around 6:45 p.m. Tuesday after coming home from work and finding his two sons unconscious. He told dispatchers that his wife had done something to them.

Priyatharsini Natarajan, 35, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of her sons, ages 5 and 7, according to the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office. She also faces a weapons possession charge.

While authorities stated that the case is still being investigated, Natarajan was named as the person who "caused the deaths" of her sons.

Police entered the home and found 35-year-old Priyatharsini Nataraja, before finding her two sons, ages 5 and 7, unresponsive in a bedroom.

Natarajan has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and a weapons offense. She is being held at the Somerset County Jail. The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office said on January 14 that it was awaiting confirmation from the medical examiner to formally identify the victims.
