2026 NFL mock draft: Rams double down on defensive backs
The Los Angeles Rams have two picks in the first round of the 2026 NFL draft but only one true need: Secondary. L.A.'s secondary combines veteran and raw talent but doesn't have any true stars among it — yet.
Every year, there seems to be a collegiate quarterback that skyrockets up NFL Draft boards right before the big day. Six teams have been bounced from the NFL playoffs and four have a first-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Here's our latest predictions.
“The Bengals selected one of the best run-defending edge rushers in the first round of last year’s draft in Shemar Stewart and could now target the best pass rusher in this year’s class, Bailey. He led all FBS defenders in PFF overall grade (93.1), PFF pass-rush grade (93.9), pressures (81) and sacks (15).”
The last time the Eagles picked in the early 20s range of the NFL draft was two years ago, when the team broke a 22-year streak of not selecting a defensive back in the first round. The player they selected was Toledo defensive back Quinyon Mitchell, who was recently named a first-team NFL All-Pro.
Texas football is one of six schools to send a first-round pick to the NFL in each of the last three draft cycles, joining Alabama, Ohio State, Georgia, Oregon and Michigan. It might be tough to extend that streak to four years in 2026.
With the Detroit Lions' season complete, here is an early three-round mock draft using PFF's mock draft simulator.

Recent mock draft has Colts snagging an Oklahoma standout ahead of 2026
Fans could see in high-stress games how much the Colts could get home and stress opposing quarterbacks. Arguably, only second-year pro Laiatu Latu could do that. Heading into the 2026 offseason, one of the biggest concerns for general manager Chris Ballard is how to address the grave need in his edge rusher group.
