Illinois bill would allow e-learning for schools serving as polling places on Election Day
Rep. Maura Hirschauer’s HB 4535 lets Illinois school districts use e-learning when campuses serve as polling places on Election Day.
Public school students in Bloomington-Normal will have an e-learning day on Friday due to the extreme cold. Unit 5 and District 87 announced Thursday that there will be no in-person school on Friday. Both districts are doing an e-learning day instead.
Willmar Public Schools will have an e-learning day Friday, Jan. 23 due to cold temperatures. Other activities and programs also impacted.
The St. Paul and Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan school districts both announced they will offer online options for students starting next week as the influx of federal agents to Minnesota continues to strike fear in immigrant communities.
All 69 schools will be closed next Tuesday and Wednesday to give teachers time to prepare an online curriculum.
